La Liga side Getafe named QUIQUE SÁNCHEZ FLORES its new coach. He began his coaching career with Getafe in '04 and later managed Valencia, Portuguese side Benfica and Atlético Madrid. Sánchez Flores will replace COSMIN CONTRA, who signed with Chinese club Guangzhou R&F last month (MARCA, 1/5). ... Canterbury Hill Advisory Dir MICHAEL JONES has replaced ANDREW FAGAN as ACT Brumbies CEO. He wants to transform the Brumbies into a "world-class organisation after signing a three-year deal to become the Super Rugby province's third boss in the space of 14 months." Jones spent "three of his first four hours in the job on Monday working on finding a major sponsor" (THE AGE, 1/5). ... Former Taoyuan County Commissioner JOHN WU has been confirmed by the Chinese Professional Baseball League clubs as the league's new commissioner after he "prevailed over challenges from several other political figures." Wu is to "become commissioner of the league next month after the Lunar New Year holidays." The race for league commissioner saw Wu defeat a "strong challenge" by former minister of the interior YU CHENG-HSIEN, a senior DPP figure (TAIPEI TIMES, 1/3). ... League Championship side Norwich City Manager NEIL ADAMS has resigned after "nine months in charge" of the club. MIKE PHELAN, a first-team coach at Norwich and former assistant to ALEX FERGUSON at ManU, "will take temporary charge." Adams "will take a break from football and return to the club in an unidentified role in July" (BBC, 1/5). ... Barcelona President JOSEP MARIA BARTOMEU has decided to terminate the contract of the Dir of Football ANDONI ZUBIZARRETA. Bartomeu thanked Zubizarreta for his contribution, dedication and professionalism over the last four years (Barcelona).
