Player Agents In German Football Earn More Than €100M During '13-14, Report Says

Player agents in German football have earned more than €100M during the '13-14 season, according to Rafael Buschmann of SPIEGEL ONLINE. Citing unreleased documents of the German Football League (DFL), the publication claimed that "it was the first time in Bundesliga history that agents made such an amount." Four years ago, player agents made around €70M. Player agents receive a 5-15% share of their players' annual gross salary, or a similar share of transfer fee and agent fees. Some agents also get bonuses for championship or Champions League trophies. Bayern Munich President Karl-Heinz Rummenigge called the current situation "absurd," calling for players, rather than clubs, to pay the agents. In England, Premier League clubs paid about €145M to player agents during the previous season (SPIEGEL ONLINE, 1/4).
