Scottish Professional Football League Title Sponsorship Price Revealed In Leaked Emails

The Scottish Professional Football League is asking for £1.75M ($2.7M) per year "from potential sponsors of the country's four professional leagues," according to STV. SPFL Head of Partnerships Keith Campbell "put the price on title sponsorship in e-mails with a potential bidder that have been leaked to Press Association Sport." The leaked emails reportedly quote a fee of £1.75M per season "for a three-season deal." In one email sent on Dec. 16, Campbell wrote, "The fee for the Title sponsorship of the four Scottish leagues is £1.75m though this is subject to an agreed rights package." Those exchanges "are unlikely to proceed further after the leaking of the emails suggested they were part of a publicity stunt." A spokesperson for the SPFL said, "Talks are live with a number of brands regarding title sponsorship of the SPFL and these discussions will continue in the new year." The leak "comes after claims that mobile gaming brand Fruity King claimed to be in talks with the league over a potential deal" (STV, 12/31).
