Franchise Notes: Coventry City Owners Launch Action Against City Council

The owners of League One side Coventry City have launched "further court action against Coventry City Council." The move "is understood to relate to the sale of the stadium." A statement issued by Sisu Capital said, "We believe that some of the decisions the council has made were not taken in the best interests of Coventry taxpayers and had a seriously damaging effect on the club" (COVENTRY TELEGRAPH, 12/19). ... League Two club Hartlepool has "ruled out signing convicted rapist Ched Evans." The 25-year-old was "released in October after serving half of a five-year sentence for the rape of a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room in 2011." The club said in a statement that it does not "intend signing Ched Evans" despite his "obvious ability as a football player" (BBC, 12/21).
