League Championship Derby County Coach Calls For FA To Take Stand On Diving

League Championship side Derby County coach Steve McClaren has called on the FA to "take action against divers," according to Baker & Hughes of the LONDON TIMES. Derby played Chelsea on Tuesday, which has "hit the headlines of late for instances of alleged simulation," with EPL side Hull City Manager Steve Bruce describing his side's 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as "something out of Swan Lake." McLaren: "Would I like to see retrospective action taken? Absolutely. If people cheat and do wrong, they have to suffer the consequences. It can cost you a game." McClaren believes the problem is "so widespread that he prepares his players to handle the art of simulation." He said, "We have to coach our defenders better. Tell them stay on your feet and don't dive in. You have to teach them and guide them, playing the right way. But you also have to be smart, and it's a duel in the penalty area" (LONDON TIMES, 12/16).
