Queens Park Rangers Faces Legal Battle Over Financial Fair Play Violations

EPL side Queens Park Rangers "face an anxious wait as they prepare for the possibility of a legal battle with the Football League over any breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations," according to Oliver Kay of the LONDON TIMES. League rivals Burnley and Leicester City are understood "to have complied with the regulations," but QPR’s accounts for last season are expected to show losses in the region of £50M as it "continued to spend heavily to win promotion" back to the Premier League at the first attempt, through the playoffs. QPR has signaled its "determination to contest any Football League sanction, believing that last season’s FFP regulations, which have since been amended for this season, were not legally sustainable." QPR is in discussions with the Football League over its accounts for last season, when it was a Championship club, and is understood to feel secure in its belief that the threatened sanctions -- which, as a Premier League club, "could be a fine running into tens of millions of pounds -- will not occur" (LONDON TIMES, 12/16).
