The NBA and Brazil’s Liga Nacional de Basquete (LNB) announced a multi-year partnership in an effort to continue to grow the game of basketball in Brazil. The collaboration between the NBA and the LNB is one of the first of its kind among sports leagues. With a long-term goal of increasing basketball’s popularity in Brazil and across the globe, the two organizations -- with the support of the Confederação Brasileira de Basketball (CBB) -- will share best practices to increase fan engagement and new business development for the LNB through innovative marketing efforts and enhanced game presentation. Over the next several years, the partnership will expand to encompass additional areas including new business ventures for LNB’s men’s national basketball championship called NBB (Novo Basquete Brasil), basketball operations, overall player development and community outreach initiatives. NBA VP and Managing Dir for Brazil Arnon de Mello said, “Basketball is one of the most popular sports in Brazil. By partnering with top-flight leagues like the LNB, we can continue to captivate new fans, increase participation and grow the game” (NBA).
