Executive Transactions

Premiership rugby side Worcester Warriors announced that JIM O'TOOLE has been appointed as the club's CEO. O'Toole, who currently holds the position of commercial director at Aviva Premiership club London Irish, will begin his tenure on March 1. In June '13, O'Toole joined London Irish and has played a key role in the club increasing its merchandise revenue and becoming one of the Premiership's top-five sponsorship performers (Warriors). ... Former Italy int'l FABIO LIVERANI replaced MAURO MILANESE as League One side Leyton Orient manager. Milanese "was in charge for only eight matches, presiding over only two wins." He "will revert to his previous role of sporting director." Liverani brought in MARCHELLO DONATELLI as assistant manager and MAURIZIO CANTARELLI as fitness coach (BBC, 12/8). ... PIERPAOLO BISOLI became the “third managerial casualty of the Serie A season on Monday” when Cesena announced he had been sacked. DAVIDE BALLARDINI is expected to replace Bisoli on a “six-month contract with an option for the following season if he avoids relegation” (REUTERS, 12/8). ... ACT Brumbies CEO DOUG EDWARDS “will quit his job just four months into a two-year contract as the Super Rugby club fights to find a major sponsor and battles financial losses.” Edwards told the club he needed to “return to his multimillion-dollar scrapbook company in Queensland after one of his business partners fell ill.” The Brumbies have started a “wide-ranging search for Edwards' replacement and hope they can fill the position as soon as possible” (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 12/8). ... Former World Touring Car Championship promoter MARCELLO LOTTI has been confirmed as CEO of the TCR Int’l Series, formerly the TC3 Int’l Series. The name change from TC3 to TCR is “understood to stem partly from a desire to distance itself from the FIA World Touring Car Championship's TC1 regulations” (AUTOSPORT, 12/5).
