Birmingham City Reject Suggestion Of Financial Fair Play Transfer Embargo

Football League side Birmingham City "rubbished suggestions" that it will be hit with a transfer embargo for breaches of Financial Fair Play rules, according to Brian Dick of the BIRMINGHAM MAIL. Reports emerged over the weekend that "the club could be banned from signing players in the January transfer window because of anticipated losses." However, the club has "refuted that notion" and insists that it has done enough to satisfy the authorities. A spokesperson said, "Birmingham City is not currently facing any transfer ban or other sanction" (BIRMINGHAM MAIL, 12/8). EUROSPORT reported it comes after last week's online posts claiming to be from former acting Chair Peter Pannu saying that "the club would run out of money early next year." Those claims "were also rejected by Birmingham" and the Football League is satisfied with the club's situation (EUROSPORT, 12/8).
