League Notes: Spanish Football League To Charge Real Madrid Over Fan Conduct

The Spanish Football League (LFP) will charge Real Madrid before the Spanish Football Federation's (RFEF) Competition Committee for "insulting chants, by the fans," against Lionel Messi and Barcelona during Saturday's win over La Liga rival Celta Vigo. The actions taken against Real Madrid are "due to the recent events in Madrid that resulted in the death of a Deportivo La Coruna fan at the hands of Atletico Madrid ultras" (INSIDE SPANISH FOOTBALL, 12/7). ... The NBA announced that it opened the largest NBA Store outside the U.S. in Manila on Saturday, at Glorietta 3 in the Ayala Center, Makati City. Managed by Int'l Athletic Trading Company, Inc., the NBA Store in Manila will feature more than 1,000 square meters over two floors. The store will carry merchandise from all 30 teams and offer personalized jersey services (NBA). ... Scottish athletics wants to field its own teams at more major championships. Scottish Athletics Chair Ian Beattie said that Team GB outings should be restricted to the Olympics. The plans could reportedly see athletes "compete under the banner of the Saltire at events other than Commonwealth Games" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 12/7).
