UEFA Awards Iceland, Denmark Euro 2016 Broadcasting Rights

UEFA "awarded Iceland and Denmark the broadcast rights for the 2016 European Championships in France," according to ICE NEWS. In Iceland, TV network Skarinn "will show all the games live while providing its viewers with supplementary shows" throughout the month-long tournament. It "will be the first time the broadcaster has partnered" with UEFA. In Denmark, meanwhile, TV2 and DR "are set to combine to cover the tournament’s 51 games." It "will be the largest ever European Championships, with the competition expanding from 16 teams, which was first introduced in 1996 in England, to 24 teams" (ICE NEWS, 12/1).

OLYMPIC RIGHTS: The IOC announced that CCTV has been awarded the exclusive broadcast rights in China for PyeongChang 2018 and Tokyo 2020, as well as the Games in '22 and '24. CCTV, China’s state broadcaster, has acquired the rights across all broadcast platforms. The agreement also includes the right to broadcast all editions of the Youth Olympic Games until '24 (IOC).
