FIFA and UEFA "sent a joint letter to the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), warning that if the government’s proposed sports legislation proceeds, it will mean the end of Greek football teams’ presence in international competitions, underlining that such a proposal constitutes an unacceptable involvement of the state in football" (GREEK REPORTER, 12/2). ... New Serie B side Bologna Owners Joe Tacopina and Joey Saputo "issued a joint statement on the club's website reassuring fans that they are still collaborating amid reports of a rift." They said, "From the start we have been partners and friends and that hasn't changed. ... We will try to assure adequate financial resources for the club for many years" (AP, 12/2). ... According to a survey published by the French Institute of Public Opinion Tuesday, Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain "garnered only 48% favorable opinions" by French voters, a decrease of 6% since May. That puts the Parisian club in the 19th spot in Ligue 1, just ahead of last-place Bastia (40%). Bordeaux and Nantes shared the top spot in the survey, which both clubs receiving a 91% favorable opinion. This "drop in the barometer of French football could be explained by the disappointing results of the French champions" in the first part of the season, or even by the prolonged absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is "still very popular but has not been able to help his team much" over the past several weeks (FRANCE FOOTBALL, 12/2). ... K-League side Seongnam FC Owner Lee Jae-myung was defiant on Tuesday “in the face of possible punishment over his public criticism” of officiating. Lee will face a disciplinary hearing after writing on his Facebook page last Saturday that Seongnam FC had been a “frequent victim of poor officiating” this season, citing three specific matches (YONHAP, 12/2). ... FIFA Medical Committee Chair Michel d'Hooghe, who is being investigated as part of the World Cup anti-corruption probe, said he is suffering "the hardest period of my life" and being treated "like a murderer" even though he has done “nothing wrong and has absolutely nothing to hide” (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 12/2).
