Event Notes: Tickets For Champions Trophy Field Hockey Tournament Selling Well

The "most-awaited" Hero Men's Champions Trophy field hockey tournament, beginning on Dec. 6, has "witnessed an overwhelming response from the hockey fans in the city with the match tickets selling like hot cakes." The sale of tickets "has been on a rise." Most of the matches are "likely to be sold-out prior to the commencement of the tournament" (PTI, 12/2). ... The Int'l Swimming Federation (FINA) confirmed on Tuesday that the Chinese city of Hangzhou will host the 2018 short-course World Swimming Championships. The capital city of East China's Zhejiang Province "beat bids from the Peruvian capital Lima and the United Arab Emirates in a vote made ahead of this year's event in Doha" (GLOBAL TIMES, 12/2). ... The French National Rugby League announced Monday the semifinals for the ‘14-15 Top 14 rugby season will take place on June 5-6 in the new Bordeaux stadium. Built for the Euro 2016, the stadium will have a capacity of 42,098 and is "set to be inaugurated on May 23". The Top 14 semifinals were previously held in Lille in ’14 and Nantes in ’13 (AFP, 12/1).
