DFL Sports Enterprises Awards Bundesliga Rights To A Further 18 Countries

DFL Sports Enterprises awarded the audiovisual media rights for Bundesliga football for a further 18 countries in Europe and neighboring regions for the '15-16 and '16-17 seasons in a media rights tender. With income set to exceed the €150M ($186M) per season mark, it has more than doubled its license income in comparison to the current rights period. Previous prognoses had foreseen an increase from €70M ($87M) to €140M ($174M) per season. The marketing subsidiary of DFL Deutsche Fussball Liga achieved particularly high growth rates in Spain, Turkey and Greece. In Spain, the collaboration with pay-TV market leader Canal+ is to be continued. In Turkey, Eurosport was appointed as a new media partner. DFL Sports Enterprises also reached a direct agreement with a broadcaster in Greece. The rights in Russia, Ukraine and 10 other CIS states such as Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Kazakhstan were awarded to the sportsman media group. DFL Sports Enterprises Managing Dir Jörg Daubitzer said, "These new European agreements will contribute to our more than doubling the international sales for the upcoming rights period, and will help us to exceed the €150 million per season mark already in the 2015-2016 season" (Bundesliga).
