League Notes: FIA Says F1's Virtual Safety Car System Needs More Work

FIA said that "it is still too early to know whether its 'virtual safety car' plan will be ready for the start of the 2015 Formula 1 season." The new system, which "is being introduced in response to lessons learned from Jules Bianchi's Japanese Grand Prix accident, was tested in practice in both the United States and Brazil" (AUTOSPORT, 11/17). ... Two Australian Turf Club officials "were banned on Monday for betting on races." Racing clerk Shaun Lyall and Racing & Betting Services Manager Murray Conallin "both pleaded guilty at the stewards hearing." Lyall "received a two-year ban for having 291 bets on races," while Conallin "placed 71 bets on races and received an 18-month ban" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 11/17).
