Control for Cricket in India president-in-exile N. Srinivasan was cleared
of match-fixing charges by the Justice Mukul Mudgal Committee, "which was appointed to probe the spot-fixing and betting scandal
in the sixth edition of Indian Premier League," according to the HINDUSTAN TIMES. However, the panel told the Supreme Court that Srinivasan, along with four other BCCI officials, "was aware of violation of players code of conduct by individual 3 but no action was taken against individual 3 by any of the foresaid officials who were aware of this interaction." The panel concluded that Srinivasan's son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan, "was involved in illegal betting, but not in match fixing." Rajasthan Royals co-Owner Raj Kundra also "was found to be in touch with bookies and taking bets in violation of the BCCI's anti-corruption code and that the probe against him was abruptly and without reason stopped by the Rajastha police upon receiving papers from Delhi police" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 11/17). GO CRICKET reported in another "shocking revelation," the report said that IPL COO Sundar Raman admitted "to having received information about the betting activities" of Meiyappan and Kundra and not conveying it to anyone because he had been advised that the information was "not actionable." The report "also pointed out that the IPL COO knew a contact of a bookie and had contacted him eight times during an IPL season but had denied being aware of his betting activities" (GO CRICKET, 11/17).
