Rugby Football Union Reports Revenue Decrease Of $3.6M To $238M For '13-14

The Rugby Football Union "has reported a small decrease in group revenue" with turnover for '13-14 falling £2.3M ($3.6M) to £152.2M ($238M), according to the BELFAST TELEGRAPH. The total investment into rugby was £75.3M ($118M), up 13% on '12-13, "with a substantial proportion of this growth" focused on the RFU's commitment to building a "lasting World Cup legacy." The "commitment to maintaining growth in rugby investment results in a planned loss for the year" of £9.5M ($15M), which will be accommodated by the group's profit and loss reserve, which remains at £10.2M ($16M). RFU CEO Ian Ritchie: "In the past year we significantly increased our investment in both professional and development rugby, with a record £75.3M invested directly with clubs and in operating the English game at all levels" (BELFAST TELEGRAPH, 11/14).
