PSG Backers File Antitrust Complaint Claiming UEFA's FFP Rules Prohibit Investment

Thirty-five supporters of Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain "filed an antitrust complaint with the European Union" against UEFA's regulation that "big-spending teams must come close to breaking even," according to Gaspard Sebag of BLOOMBERG. The fans' lawyers, Jean-Louis Dupont and Martin Hissel, said in a statement that the complaint is that UEFA's "so-called" Financial Fair Play rules are "no more than a prohibition on investment" and a restriction of competition. The "supporters-against-FFP" grouping's coordinator, Franck Boucher, said, "Every day we receive new requests from people wanting to join the ongoing actions." Representatives of the European Commission in Brussels and Nyon, Switzerland-based UEFA "declined to give an immediate comment" (BLOOMBERG, 11/13).
