Franchise Notes: Spain's Superior Sports Council Approves Sale Of La Liga Valencia

Spain's Superior Sports Council (CSD) on Tuesday "gave the green light" to La Liga Valencia's sale of its shares to Peter Lim's Meriton Holdings. The operation is "advancing little by little" so that it will be complete on Dec. 1 (SUPERDEPORTE, 11/12). ... Atlético Madrid "continues shattering records and is on pace for a round, historic number by Christmas: 75,000 members." Day after day, "the club's social area grows nonstop." Currently, the club has 74,000 members, including 46,000 season-ticket holders. Atlético has the third-highest number of season-ticket holders in Spain, behind Barcelona (87,000) and Madrid (65,000) (AS, 11/12). ... Liga MX side Santos Laguna's Territorio Santos Modelo complex "is continuing updates to be at the vanguard of global football." One advance is "the incorporation of new goals made of a material that is less dangerous for players." The club acquired in Murcia, Spain two goals manufactured using an aluminum alloy (silicone, iron, copper, manganese, magnesium, chrome and zinc). The total investment cost the club 150,000 pesos ($11,000) for the price of the goals, which are expected to arrive in December, installation and transportation (LA AFICION, 11/12).
