Franchise Notes: Otago Withdraws From New Zealand's National Basketball League

New Zealand basketball side Otago will not be "contesting next year's National Basketball League." Otago has "cited financial reasons for the Nuggets withdrawing." National Basketball League Chair Sam Rossiter-Stead "confirmed the move," expressing disappointment but understanding a need for the Otago franchise "to regroup" (STUFF, 11/11). ... The Holden Racing Team has "made a donation to the RSL this Remembrance Day, presenting the funds raised through its ANZAC Appeal efforts earlier this season." HRT driver Garth Tander presented a cheque for A$11,995 ($9,400) to the RSL, "with all funds raised to be split between it and its New Zealand equivalent, the RSA" (FOX SPORTS, 11/11).
