Second Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC has extended its contract with Sports Dir JENS TODT until June 30, 2017. The 44-year-old, whose contract expired at the end of the '13-14 season, signed a contract extension on Monday. Todt has been the club's sports director since June '13 (SID, 11/10). ... Croatian handball player MARKO KOPLJAR has been suspended on Monday for six months after being found guilty of biting French handball player BENJAMIN GILLE during the Oct. 15 handball match between French clubs Paris St. Germain and Chambery. Kopljar "should miss four or five league matches" (HAND NEWS, 11/10). ... The French National Handball League disciplinary committee has charged French handball club Nantes coach THIERRY ANTI with a two-match suspension following his behavior during the Oct. 22 Paris St. Germain-Nantes match. During the match, Anti "pulled his pants down to protest the red card" inflicted on his player JORGE MAQUEDA and then "lashed out at the delegate at the table." The club has decided not to appeal (OUEST-FRANCE, 11/10). ... French judokas PIERRE DUPRAT and ADRIEN BOURGUIGNON have "been revealed as the two athletes who mooned supporters from inside the French Judo team bus at the World Judo Championships" in Russia in late August. French Judo Federation Technical Dir JEAN-CLAUDE SENAUD said that the two judokas “have denounced themselves” and have sent a letter of apology to the int'l bodies. They should know their sanction “within fifteen days” (20 MINUTES, 11/10). ... Brazil midfielder OSCAR "signed a new contract with Chelsea that commits him to Stamford Bridge until 2019." The 23-year-old "joined the Blues from Brazilian side Internacional" in '12 on a five-year deal (BBC, 11/10). ... The Iran Football Federation on Saturday "parted company" with NELO VINGADA as Iran Olympic head coach. The Portuguese was appointed to the Iran Olympic team in March "but dismissed from his post following the poor results in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea" (TEHRAN TIMES, 11/9). ... Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation GM NASSER KHALIFA AL ATTIYAH  is seeking re-election to the Int'l Motorcycling Federation (FIM) at the upcoming elections on Nov. 22 in Jerez, Spain. The Qatari "is also seeking election as vice-president of the board" (ARABIAN BUSINESS, 11/9). ... Former football player SAMMY REID, the man whose famous goal for Scottish League Two side Berwick Rangers knocked Scottish Championship side Rangers out of the Scottish Cup in '67, "died at his home" over the weekend, aged 75. Reid was BILL SHANKLY's first ever signing as manager of Liverpool, "arriving from Motherwell in February, 1960" (PA, 11/10).

THOHIR: ITALY IS NOT RACIST: Inter Milan President ERICK THOHIR was referred to as "that Filipino" by Serie A side Sampdoria President MASSIMO FERRERO and attacked in a Huffington Post column as a "fat Indonesian" by former 2006 Turin Olympics Organizing Committee President EVELINA CHRISTILLIN. But the Inter patron does not believe Italy is a racist country. Thohir: "I can take these things as a joke, or I can’t. I’m not tall, and I never will be. I’m not skinny. For many people I’m not even good looking. These are facts, and I won’t deny them" (EUROSPORT, 11/10).

EDMOND BOWEN BANNED: The FIFA Ethics Committee, chaired by HANS-JOACHIM ECKERT, decided to ban former New Caledonia FA President EDMOND BOWEN from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and int'l level for a period of three years. Bowen was found guilty of breaching article 13 after he did not fill out the mandatory declaration of integrity truthfully when bidding to be elected as a member of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee (FIFA).

PISTORIUS HEARING: Prosecutors said Monday that their application to appeal against paralympic sprinter OSCAR PISTORIUS' manslaughter conviction and five-year prison sentence "will be heard in a Pretoria court on Dec. 9." His lawyer said that it was not yet decided if the Olympic runner -- who is in jail in the same city -- "would attend the hearing" (AP, 11/10).
