League Notes: Sydney Lawyer Hoping To Sue National Rugby League

Sydney lawyer George Draca believes he can "successfully sue" the National Rugby League on behalf of former players who "suffered brain injuries from concussions, and has secured private funding to back legal action against the code, comparing potential litigation to the damaging lawsuit filed in the United States by thousands of ex-NFL players." Concussion has been a "hot topic for league authorities over the past year." The damage "may already have been done when it comes to the deeds of the past, however, and the result could pan out to be financially disastrous for League Central" (SYDNEY MORNING  HERALD, 11/10). ... Cricket Australia GM of Team Performance Pat Howard has "engaged an Indian company to conduct a thorough review of the shambolic series against Pakistan in an effort to find a solution for Australia's historic woes in Asia." Chennai-based analysis firm Cricket 21 employs "dozens of former first-class Indian cricketers and is being charged with sorting through Australia's problems in subcontinental conditions" (SMH, 11/9).
