The French Committee for International Sport (CFSI) announced that "the findings of the feasibility study on a French candidature for the summer Olympic Games will be made available to local and state politicians in January," according to the AFP. The state and local governments, "first and foremost the city hall of Paris, will have until the summer to decide whether or not to launch a candidacy" for the 2024 Olympic Games that "the sporting movement supports wholeheartedly." CFSI President Bernard Lapasset and French Olympic Committee President Denis Masseglia "have not hidden their enthusiasm for what Masseglia described as 'this great project that is taking shape.'" Nominations for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games must be submitted to the IOC by September (AFP, 11/4).
GETTING STARTED: SPORT1 reported that Berlin "has launched its first Olympics campaign on Monday under the slogan 'Wir wollen spielen' ('We want to play')." The campaign "will kick off on social media." Through a private association, which includes about 30 businesses and 70 private people, it "will expand its reach to other media outlets in Germany's capital starting in mid-November." The campaign intends to "highlight the positive impact for the city of hosting 2024 Games, which it calls 'Berlympics'" (SPORT1, 11/1).
