Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli has found a "passion for business after quitting tennis at 28," according to Danielle Rossingh of BLOOMBERG. Bartoli is developing "two companies: one selling jewelry, accessories, clothing and shoes; the other retailing frozen yogurt." Bartoli has some of her high-top sneakers "embellished with crystals on sale at Musette in Paris." She designed a "sneaker accessory for fans" of the NBA Philadelphia 76ers, "a pair of wings with the team’s logo that can be laced up into sneakers." Bartoli: "I have this entrepreneurial, take-some-risk spirit. I came from a village of 2,000 people in France, my dad wasn't a tennis coach. I've come a really long way." When it comes to investing her winnings, Bartoli is "less adventurous." Although she "declined to say what she's investing in, she said she gets financial advice from her father and boyfriend, an investment banker at NM Rothschild & Sons Ltd." Bartoli: "I play it very safe. It's not like I am trying to gain a tremendous amount, but I am just trying not to lose first and make a small retainer every year" (BLOOMBERG, 10/31).
