European Commission Rejects Player Agent's Complaint Against Financial Fair Play

The European Union's exec branch "rejected a complaint against measures" aimed at preventing football clubs from amassing losses, according to Tariq Panja of BLOOMBERG. The European Commission "threw out the complaint brought by Daniel Striani, a Brussels-based player agent," against UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations because he is "also suing in Belgium." Striani and his lawyer, Jean-Louis Dupont, said the rules "infringe EU competition law and the right to free movement of workers, service and capital." UEFA has said it has been "talking with the European Union to ensure it meets legal requirements." Platini addressed the EU last week, where he "asked for support" of UEFA in its efforts to "reform the sport." Platini: "I am counting on your active support on these fundamental issues, because we can achieve more together than alone, and because progress for one means progress for everyone" (BLOOMBERG, 10/29).
