League Notes: UCI Requests Licence Commission To Review Astana Pro Team

The Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) will ask the Licence Commission to undertake a full review of the management and anti-doping policies of the Astana Pro Team. This follows concerns raised by the fact that two Astana riders -- Maxim and Valentin Iglinskiy -- recently tested positive for EPO and the notification this week that llya Davidenok has returned an adverse analytical finding for anabolic androgenic steroids in a sample collected at the Tour de l’Avenir on Aug. 28 (UCI). ... F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have called for "better wet-weather tyres to make racing in the rain safer." They said that the limitations of the "extreme" tyre force them to use "lighter-treaded 'intermediate' when the track is too wet." Hamilton: "They're not great tires. That's no secret" (BBC, 10/16).
