Former Werder Bremen player MARCO BODE will reportedly replace WILLI LEMKE as chairman of the club's supervisory council. Bode: "It's the right time to take on more responsibility for Werder, and I hope I can contribute getting the club ready for the future." Lemke said on Tuesday that "he wants to step down from his position soon to initiate a generational change." Bode, who played for Werder from '88-02, "has been a member of the supervisory council since '12" (SID, 10/15). ... EPL side Sunderland appointed MATT SMITH as assistant commercial director. The former sponsorship exec at Middlesbrough and Scottish Championship side Rangers, "will be tasked with developing new partnership opportunities for the Black Cats." He "will work alongside" Sunderland Commercial Dir GARY HUTCHINSON (SOCCEREX, 10/15). ...  League Two side York appointed former Scunthorpe Manager RUSS WILCOX as its new manager. The 50-year-old takes over from NIGEL WORTHINGTON, "who resigned on Monday." Wilcox "guided Scunthorpe to promotion from League Two last season but was sacked last week after a poor start to the season" (BBC, 10/15). ... The FA has appointed ANDY WALKER senior communications manager for the England men’s team. Walker joins the FA from League Championship side Birmingham City, where he held the post of head of media and communications. He is a specialist in social media and has received various accolades for his work in this field. Walker will help shape communications around the England senior men’s team and contribute to its PR strategy ahead of Euro 2016 (The FA). … NARINDER BATRA was elected unopposed as president of Hockey India for a four-year term effective Monday (Hockey India).
