Media Notes: Indian Super League To Be Telecast Across Five Continents

The Indian Super League "will be telecast across five continents, besides eight channels on the STAR network." The list of int'l territories and broadcasters: Southeast Asia (Eurosport), Australia (Fox Sports), U.S. (Fox Sports), Sub-Saharan Africa (Fox Sports/Zuku and Supersport), U.K./Europe/Africa (STAR Gold), Continental Europe (Eurosport), Canada (ATN), Middle East/North Africa (OSN) and Bangladesh (Channel 9), "as per information from IMG-Reliance" (THE HINDU, 10/14). ... British pay TV group Sky has "announced that it had obtained unconditional media concentration clearance from the state media authorities of Bavaria, and Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein for the acquisitions of 57.4 percent of Sky Deutschland" (TELECOM PAPER, 10/14). ... BeIN Sports "has decided to expand its distribution through an app" for video game consoles (Xbox 360 and Xbox One). The content will be available to non-subscribers and features video clips of game summaries, interviews and replays. Canal+ took this step in '09 through an agreement with Microsoft for Xbox 360. This year, Canal+ made the content available to Xbox One users. The beIN Sports app is only available on Xbox 360 for now, but it will be offered on the new generation console soon (L’EQUIPE, 10/13).
