Marketplace Roundup: Continental Tires Enters Four-Year Collaboration With Chinese FA

Continental Tires has entered into a four-year collaboration with the Chinese FA. Continental said that this agreement, along with its Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup 2015 sponsorship, represents a specific focus on the Asia Pacific region. From '14-18, Continental will be the exclusive tire partner and official sponsor of the chinese national team, covering all seven of the state-owned national football teams (Continental Tires). ... Mexican mobile entertainment provider Binbit has agreed to a deal with Real Madrid for the exclusive mobile distribution rights for the club's digital content across various regions. Binbit has partnerships with more than 90 telephone carriers on five continents. The agreement with Real Madrid follows a similar deal that Binbit struck with Barcelona in August (Binbit). ... Chelsea named Vietnamobile its official network services provider in Vietnam. The company launched in '09 and is Vietnam's fastest growing mobile communications operator. Under the three-year deal, Vietnamobile will offer co-branded products including limited-edition SIM cards and promotions in Vietnam and China. Chelsea fans in Vietnam will also have access to digital content including wallpapers, videos and ringtones (Chelsea). ... EPL side Leicester City announced it has renewed its partnership with Sytner Leicester BMW and Mini for the '14-15 season. The second year of the deal will see the company become a U.K. partner for '14-15 (Leicester City).

IN FRANCE: The French Ski Federation (FFS) and French travel agency Odalys have signed a four-year partnership agreement. Odalys will be the official supplier of the federation in leisure accommodations, offering French teams and FFS licensees discounts on a wide range of winter and summer holiday trips (FFS). ... Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain renewed its partnership with Puressentiel until June ‘16. The natural healthcare products brand will remain an official supplier of the club, “providing its goods to PSG players and medical staff.” Puressentiel “first became a partner of the Qatari-owned club” during the ‘11-12 season (SOCCEREX, 10/14). ... Top 14 rugby side Montpellier and French train service company Ouigo announced an official partnership for the ’14-15 season. Montpellier President Mohed Altrad said, “We are always happy to partner with a new brand; especially when the brand, like Ouigo, is much like our own. We love brand positioning that is line with the values of commitment and dynamism that we promote ourselves. I hope that we will do great things together.” The Montpellier jerseys will now sport a new pink patch and Ouigo signage will be displayed around the sides and big screen at Altrad Stadium (SPORTMAG, 10/14). ... French investment firm AG2R-La Mondiale confirmed it will be extending its title sponsorship with its French cycling team after releasing its “estimated value for the sponsorship provided” to the team. The firm claimed that the exposure provided by the riders was worth €96.5M ($122.1M) to the company. AG2R La Mondiale COO Yvon Breton said, "A return of nearly 10 times the amount invested in cycling.” The team had “an exceptional performance” in the Tour de France, where Jean-Christophe Peraud came second overall and Romain Bardet sixth. Breton: “These exceptional results, which confirm our loyal communication strategy through sport, have led us to confirm our commitment through 2018” (CYCLING NEWS, 10/14).

BARCELONA ADDRESSES QATAR: Barcelona Social Department VP Jordi Cardoner said of the club's sponsorship deal with Qatar, "Barcelona's leadership has not considered removing Qatar's advertising. What we do have is the responsibility to study all possible advertisers. When the contract with Qatar expires in 2016, we would love to not continue to carry advertising, just as we would love for all games to be played at 6pm. Without advertising, right now each member would have to pay €5,000 ($6,300), that is not what we want" (AS, 10/14).
