German Hockey Federation President Denies Rumors Of Organization's Financial Collapse

German Hockey Federation (DEB) President Franz Reindl "has denied rumors the federation is close to a financial collapse," according to the SID. Reindl: "We are not collapsing, but we need help and support from the collective hockey family. Otherwise we won't make it." The DEB has "massive financial problems," including a claim of the state federation of North Rhine-Westphalia in the amount of €300,000 dating back to the 2010 IIHF World Championships. Reindl said that the "pile of shards" is "very big." Reindl, who took over as president in July, added, "We first have to work off the baggage that's in front of us." On a "positive note," Reindl said that the federation "will extend its deal with marketing partner Infront for another three years." The extension "could result in increased revenues" (SID, 10/14).
