ZINEDINE ZIDANE "faces a ban from coaching after being reported to the Competition Committee by the Spanish Football Federation's Coaches' Committee for working as Real Madrid Castilla's head coach without the necessary coaching badges." Sources said that ALBERTO PEREZ CALDERON, the lawyer in charge of the case, "is proposing a three-month ban for Zidane and his 'assistant' coach at Real Madrid Castilla," SANTIAGO SANCHEZ MARTIN. The latter's suspension "would be for allowing another person to work in a coaching capacity." Given that Article 104 of the Disciplinary Code "carries a one to six-month ban for coaching without the relevant badges or lending badges to another coach, the judge has proposed meeting in the middle" and banning both for three months (MARCA, 10/10) ... Businessman AGUSTÍ BENEDITO, who challenged former Barcelona President SANDRO ROSELL in the '10 election and finished second, "has given his electoral campaign a new boost." Despite "elections not currently being scheduled" until '16, Benedito has "decided to roll out different processes in case efforts to push the election forward are successful." Benedito announced this decision "in front of 350 of his associates" at an annual meeting that has been held since '10 (EFE, 10/12). ... Australian National Rugby Team Business Manager DI PATSTON "resigned late on Friday." An Australian Rugby Union spokesperson said that Patston "is no longer an employee of the Australian Rugby Union, after resigning late on Friday, due to stress relating to recent events." Patston has been at the center of controversy involving the Wallabies after player KURTLEY BEALE "was suspended for allegedly clashing verbally with her during a flight to Sao Paulo last week" (BRISBANE TIMES, 10/12). ... EPL side Hull City forward, NIKICA JELAVIC "announced his retirement" from int'l football. His announcement "came just one day after Croatia beat Bulgaria 1-0 in Sofia in a qualifying match for Euro 2016." Jelavic was seated with Croatian national coach NIKO KOVAK "and told him that he was retiring from his international duties because he was not satisfied with his role in the team." Jelavic "played 36 matches for Croatia and scored six goals" but since Kovac became head coach Jelavic's playing time deteriorated (XINHUA, 10/11). ... The FINA Order has been awarded to Russian President VLADIMIR PUTIN. The FINA Order is granted to head of states for achievements in the world of aquatics. FINA recognized Putin's support in the organization of FINA events on Russian soil (FINA).
