Bayern Munich To Refund Traveling Fans Who Rented Moscow Office For CL Matchup

Bayern Munich has "done the incredibly decent thing and refunded the small group of travelling fans who went above and beyond in their endeavours to watch the German club play behind closed doors in the Champions League," according to Chris Wright of ESPN. With CSKA Moscow's Arena Khimki "being closed off by UEFA due to crowd trouble in an earlier fixture, the group of around 70 Bayern supporters clubbed together and spent 'several thousand euros' to hire out an office in a skyscraper overlooking the stadium from which they watched their side's 1-0 victory." The group, which included Bastian Schweinsteiger's older brother Tobias, "documented their evening by posting a series of pictures and messages on social media." Tobias' Tweet "obviously caught the eye of someone at the Bavarian club (hardly surprising considering he actually plays for the Bayern reserves)." Club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "The action was made known to us, and my colleague Jan Dreesen has indeed paid the rent for the game" (ESPN, 10/2).
