Fans Urge Rangers To Come Clean On Accounts, Call On Easdale To Not Block King Deal

Fans of Scottish Championship side Rangers "have called on Sandy Easdale to guarantee he will not block any move from Dave King to invest" in the club, according to Gary Ralston of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The Union of Fans "have also urged the board to come clean on the club accounts after Record Sport revealed their publication has been delayed." Easdale invested around £250,000 ($406,000) in the recent share issue "to prop up his position as a Rangers powerbroker, half the amount initially reported." Significantly, however, "his move to avoid the dilution of his shareholding keeps him in control of a crucial" 26% of stock. Easdale now owns 5.21% of Rangers and "holds proxies for the mysterious Beaufort Nominees" who control another 21%. Easdale's grip on 26% of shares "keeps the unpopular alliance" above the 25% threshold "required to hold a veto over any significant new investment in the club" (DAILY RECORD, 9/26).
