Football Notes: Real Madrid Announces Ticket Prices For Oct. 25 Clásico Vs. Barcelona

Real Madrid announced ticket prices for the Oct. 25 game against Barça at the Santiago Bernabéu. Although the only tickets currently available are VIP seats, prices range from €70 ($89) to €340 ($433). As "usual, Real Madrid members without season tickets will have preference when the tickets go on sale, while the general public will be able to purchase tickets starting Oct. 20" (MARCA, 9/25). ... Argentine first division side Racing has had a documentary created about the club's first 110 years. The project was presented on Wednesday and will be shown "in various places in the coming weeks." Racing TV's Alex Caniza, Alejandro Fusario and Facundo Berisso created the film (CLARIN, 9/24). ... Fifteen football players in Estonia and Slovakia "were given worldwide bans" by FIFA because of match manipulation (BLOOMBERG, 9/25).

JUST SAY NO: Scottish Championship side Falkirk has explained its "reason for taking a Saltire" during Tuesday’s League Cup defeat to Rangers. Falkirk fans "were left gobsmacked when a steward forcibly removed a St. Andrew’s cross from the south stand." Falkirk officials "have attempted to justify the decision -- insisting it had the 'Yes' slogan used by those in favour of independence during last week's referendum" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 9/25). ... The Georgia Football Federation's committee of referees "is considering the scandal of commercial bribery by eight Georgian arbiters, who were arrested by the police." The arbiters "were detained by the officers of Anti-corruption Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs." The investigation established that detainees "made an agreement with citizens in advance on the number of red and yellow cards to be shown during the match in return for certain amount of cash" ($2,500-$5,000) (RUSTAVI2, 9/25).
