Mexican Baseball League Club Diablos Rojos To Play 2015 Home Games At Fray Nano Stadium

Next year, while a new stadium is being built for '16, Mexican Baseball League (LMB) club Diablos Rojos will play its home games at Mexico City's Fray Nano stadium, according to Salvador Rodríguez of ESPN. The news "was finally made official on Tuesday." Diablos Rojos GM Jorge Alum said, "We considered various alternatives with Mexico City sports officials, analyzing pros and cons; unfortunately in the capital there are not many options that fulfill the minimum requirements needed in the LMB. Fray Nuno meets, above all, the most important requirement, the official measurement of the playing field. The access to the stadium is very convenient, there are a pair of nearby metro stations. We saw it as very accessible, it is even in an area close to (previous venue) Foro Sol, which the fan base is accustomed to." To host games in '15, Alum said that Fray Nano will be renovated. Alum: "First, and most importantly, we will strengthen the structure of the stadium. It is very well-built, but it has its years and we are renovating; of course, we will be working to put the playing field in the best conditions." He added that the club will add additional seating to increase the venue's current capacity from 3,000 to "between 5,000 and 6,000" (ESPN, 9/23).
