Football Notes: CSKA Moscow Cracking Down On Fans Following Champions League Clashes

CSKA Moscow General Dir Roman Babaev said that the club is poised to introduce "banning orders and take legal action against violent fans" to stop their behavior at Champions League matches "pushing us over the edge." Babaev said, "We are actively working with our supporters and we are seeing the results in Russia, as our fans have practically stopped using flares at games. However, these agreements are not working during European matches" (REUTERS, 9/22). ... The Nigeria Football Federation announced that it will hold its elections on Sept. 30, "responding to a directive by FIFA." NFF's elections "previously scheduled" for Aug. 26 were "postponed after several problems arose in the build-up to the main polls" (BBC, 9/21).
