Russia Considers Putting National Football Team In Domestic League For '17-18 Season

Russia's national football team "could compete in the Russian League" for the '17-18 season "as part of a radical plan" put forward by Russian General Secretary Anatloiy Vorobyev, according to Sean Fay of EUROSPORT. Vorobyev "suggested the idea to help the Russian team prepare for the 2018 World Cup which they will host." The plan appears to be "very serious" but it is unclear how Russian clubs would be able to share all their best players. If the country could get permission from the clubs however, "the idea could be feasible as the vast majority of Russian players play in the domestic league" (EUROSPORT, 9/11).
