Second Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli "is leading the league with 483,311 Facebook fans," according to BILD. The other clubs rounding out the top 3 are FC Nuremberg and Fortuna Dusseldorf, with 293,373 and 189,877 likes, respectively. At the bottom of the table sit VfR Aalen (18,074), FC Heidhausen (17,012) and SV Sandhausen (13,591). Fortuna Dusseldorf, which returned to the second tier in '13-14 after a season in the top flight, "has had a Facebook page since May '08." Club Media Dir Kai Niemann said, "It's an important medium for us, especially because of the interaction." However, he added, "Facebook can't replace our website. It's targeted toward a different audience" (BILD, 9/10).
