Franchise Notes: Manager Of Fernando Alonso's Cycling Team Says It Is On Track

Luis García-Abad, the manager of Ferrari F1 driver Fernando Alonso's cycling team, said that the team is "completing every step with caution" to comply with the Int'l Cycling Union (UCI). Alonso's objective is to "have the team compete in the World Tour." García-Abad said, "Last week we paid what we owed and we are meeting step by step what the UCI has requested. Everything is on the right track." He also "denied signing any cyclists to contracts," something he reminded is "illegal" at this point (AS, 9/3). ... Volleyball Men's Bundesliga club Berlin Recycling Volleys has entered into a cooperation with Women's 2nd Bundesliga side NawaRo Straubing starting with the '14-15 season. The main focus of the cooperation will be exchanging ideas (Berlin Recycling Volleys). ... La Liga side Getafe player Pedro León "remains unsigned to compete in La Liga this season." The "new salary cap is the cause of the problem." Getafe has "been prevented from completing the signing" by the Spanish Football League (LFP) (EL MUNDO, 9/3).
