Man City Drops Cost Of Tickets For Road Game At Arsenal From $107 To $54

Man City has "slashed ticket prices" by 50% for the trip to Arsenal in September, according to Adam Crafton of the London DAILY MAIL. City has been allocated 2,900 tickets for the clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sept. 13 and has "taken the decision to cut costs for the fans." Traveling fans were "set to be charged" £64 ($107) for an adult ticket, while over-65 seats were priced at £27.25 ($45.59) and the U16 bracket is set at £24 ($40). City, however, has moved to "subsidise the prices for season-ticket holders" by 50%. City's move follows "continued protests by the Football Supporters' Federation against the rising cost of watching live Premier League football" (DAILY MAIL, 8/18). In Manchester, Chris Slater reported all Premier League clubs have "signed up to a three-year deal in which they have committed" to spending £200,000 ($335,000) per season to "improve the experience for travelling fans." City's players and staff "dipped into their own pockets" and donated around £1,000 ($1,700) each to add to the fund. Clubs "use the cash in different ways." For example, ManU last season knocked £4 ($6.69) off the price "of all away tickets for their fans whilst Stoke offered free coach travel" (MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS, 8/18).
