Franchise Notes: La Liga Valencia President Flying To Singapore To Meet With Lim

La Liga side Valencia received communication from Peter Lim "calling for an urgent meeting in Singapore on Thursday." Friday "marks the deadline" for Valencia lender Bankia and Lim's Meriton Holdings to reach an agreement on the sale of the club. Valencia President Amadeo Salvo will travel to Singapore to "unblock the negotiations." Valencia's immediate viability "depends on this trip" (MARCA, 8/13). ... Indian Super League organizers IMG-Reliance "are dialling old contacts to fill the void left by the not-so-sudden departure of Sun Group, owners of the Bengaluru franchise." Following "irreconcilable differences between them and the organizers, Sun Group are understood to have made up their mind not to associate themselves with the cash-rich tournament and have already signed the termination letter." Sources said IMG-Reliance has "now opened talks with three original bidders, including Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan, who had also bid for the Bengaluru franchise and are confident the league, when it commences on October 12, will have eight teams" (TIMES OF INDIA, 8/13)
