ManU Player Robin Van Persie Has Top Selling Jersey In EPL During '13-14 Season

ManU player Robin van Persie’s popularity remains undiminished as the striker was the most popular name to appear on the back of Premier League replica shirts for the second consecutive campaign. Global sales data from Sporting iD shows that the ManU forward was officially the most popular Premier League player on the back of shirts. Sporting iD found that  Liverpool’s challenge for the title last season helped the popularity of their players with captain Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez, the league’s top goalscorer, being the second and third-most popular names on the back of shirts, respectively. The list of the top-selling is revealed each year as part of the Premier League's Season Review, an annual report, which is available to view at http://review.premierleague.com (EPL). In London, Jack Gaughan wrote unsurprisingly, ManU's Wayne Rooney "is consistently in the top 10 and that was no different in the last campaign." The continued sale of "Rooney 10" shirts "goes some way" to explaining why ManU "has always been so desperate to keep the striker and only heightens the perception that the club's global brand is as important as results" (DAILY MAIL, 8/11).
