Argentina Government To Pull Funding Of Motor Racing Program, Allocate It To Football

Argentina's "Automovilismo Para Todos" ("Motor Racing For Everyone") program's "days are numbered," according to Alejo Iriart of OLE. The money for the racing broadcasting program "will be allocated to football" and racing body ACTC is "reviewing its media alternatives" for the '15 season. Although no "official announcement has been made," the APT program will end at the conclusion of this season, "one season earlier than what was initially agreed." The program was created in '12, establishing a four-year relationship in which Argentina's national government would provide the ACTC with 96 million Argentine pesos per year. The ACTC used "part of the money to create and equip the Pistas Argentinas media outlet." The "rebound the Argentine government expected never arrived." In addition "to low ratings, there was another more important topic: football." Next year, the Argentine FA's first division will feature 30 teams and the government will have to increase its budget for the AFA's "Fútbol Para Todos" program (OLE, 8/7).
