Bayern Munich Exec Chair Karl-Heinz Rummenigge "has called for the introduction of financial fair play in the Bundesliga," according to ZEIT ONLINE. Rummenigge, referring to the ongoing discussions about Red Bull-owned club RB Leipzig, said, "The issue of RB Leipzig, the whole discussion, could be put to rest relatively easy if you would introduce financial fair play as a licensing requirement in the Bundesliga." The German Football League (DFL), which is in charge of the top two divisions, "has not yet made a decision on the FFP." DFL Managing Dir Andreas Rettig said about a year ago, "For us it is still some sort of black box and not really tangible. Therefore we can't say today that we will implement it in our licensing procedure." Rummenigge, however, wants to accelerate the procedure. He said that he will talk to Bayern President Karl Hopfner, who is also a DFL board member, about the issue. Rummenigge: "The key thing is -- financial fair play has to be implemented in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga" (ZEIT ONLINE, 8/5).
