A-League Side Melbourne Victory To Sell 35% Share; Foreign Ownership Possible

A share of A-League side Melbourne Victory could "end up in the hands of an overseas owner or syndicate" after it was revealed 35% of the club is "expected to go up for sale," according to Ray Gatt of THE AUSTRALIAN. Shareholders Harry Stamoulis and Robert Belteky, along with a "smaller group of investors, are in the process of selling their stakes." Stamoulis, reportedly worth A$540M ($505M) is the "second-largest shareholder in Victory and Belteky the third-largest." Several sources said that the sale of the 35% "could go one of two ways." It could be "sold to an Asian owner or syndicate or shares could be issued to the public." The Asian option appears "most likely, especially if they are offered" between A$2-A$3 a share (THE AUSTRALIAN, 8/7).
