Kenya "moved swiftly on Tuesday to replace" its national football coach by appointing Scotsman BOBBY WILLIAMSON to the post less than 48 hours after firing his predecessor (REUTERS, 8/6). ... HAMANE NIANG of Mali was elected president of FIBA Africa at the zone's 16th Congress, which took place on Thursday. Niang will replace the outgoing DIEUDONNE ESEKA MABUSA and head FIBA Africa for the '14-19 term. He previously headed FIBA Africa's Financial Council from '01-14 and served as president of Mali's Basketball Federation from '99-07 (FIBA). ... Nike's "social media guru" MUSA TARIQ "has joined Apple as digital marketing director," reuniting with his former Burberry boss, Apple Senior VP of Retail ANGELA AHRENDTS, at the brand. Tariq "took up the role of global senior director of social media and community, digital brand," at Nike in '12. Tariq’s appointment has led to speculation that Apple, which does not have an official Facebook page or Twitter feed, "is planning to considerably expand its social media approach" (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 8/5). ... STEFFEN FREUND "has been appointed international technical coordinator at Tottenham." Former Tottenham and Germany midfielder Freund formed part of TIM SHERWOOD's back-room coaching staff, "but has been handed a development role" under new boss MAURICIO POCHETTINO (London DAILY MAIL, 8/5).
