Liga MX's Weekend Matchday Sets Record With 270,641 Fans Attending Nine Games

The second matchday of Liga MX's Apertura season "was historic in the short life of Liga MX's two-season format after drawing the greatest stadium attendance since the new structure was born two years ago," according to LA AFICION. The matchday held last weekend attracted 270,641 fans to nine stadiums, the highest figure since the '12 Apertura. The average crowd was 30,071, a mark representing more than 70% stadium occupancy. A game on Saturday between Tigres and León at Tigres' Universitario stadium had the largest crowd, with 40,800. The Monarcas-Atlas contest on Friday night drew the smallest crowd of the weekend with 18,426 (LA AFICION, 7/28).
