Glasgow 2014 Games Organizers Say Tickets Still Available For Various Medal Sessions

Tickets are "available for some of the most sought-after Commonwealth Games events, despite being oversubscribed when they first went on sale last year," according to the BBC. Customers can "still buy seats at a number of medal sessions, including the men's and women's 100m finals." There is "high availability" for the 5,000m final, "in which English Olympic champion Mo Farah is due to compete." Organizers said that the "unsold seats were a small part of the overall capacity." For the 4x100m men's relay at Hampden on Aug. 2, in which Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is "expected to compete," tickets priced at £90 ($154) are "still on sale." Some tickets "also remain for the opening and closing ceremonies." A Glasgow spokesperson said, "Glasgow 2014 has already sold more than 1.1 million tickets, making this the most successful event in Scottish sporting history" (BBC, 7/14).
