The Munich High Court announced on Thursday that "it scheduled six additional court proceedings through mid-October" in the bribery case against F1 CEO BERNIE ECCLESTONE. Originally, the trial, which will resume on Tuesday, "was scheduled to last through mid-September" (SID, 7/10)... Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica's government has decided to name a local football stadium after Costa Rican goalkeeper KEYLOR NAVAS in "honor of his play during the World Cup." The Pérez Zeledón Municipal Stadium, which opened in '53 and is located in Navas' birthplace, will now be known as the "Estadio Municipal Keylor Navas Gamboa." The stadium seats 6,000 and is home to Costa Rican first division sides Pérez Zeledón and AS Puma Generaleña (EFE, 7/9). ... Belgium football fan AXELLE DESPIEGELAERE "was just a face in the crowd, watching her team prepare to take on Russia in a Group H World Cup game two weeks ago in Brazil." Then the 17-year-old "had her photograph taken." The photo "went viral, making the rounds on Twitter and ending up in newspapers all over the world." Now she "has won a contract from L’Oreal, and filmed a promotional video for the cosmetics company" (N.Y. POST, 7/9). ... Russian President VLADIMIR PUTIN "looks set to meet" German Chancellor ANGELA MERKEL "amid tensions over Ukraine when both leaders attend the World Cup final in Rio de Janeiro" (AFP, 7/10). ... Injured Brazil striker NEYMAR "will attend" Saturday's third-place playoff "when the battered World Cup hosts take on the Netherlands." Brazil Football Federation spokesperson RODRIGO PAIVA said, “Neymar will come here [to Brazil’s World Cup base], he’s going to accompany the team to Saturday’s match” (AFP, 7/10).
