The England & Wales Cricket Board named SANJAY PATEL chief sales and marketing officer. Currently Heineken’s marketing strategy and planning director, he will succeed ECB Commercial Dir JOHN PERERA, who is retiring from this role at the end of the year after nearly a decade in the post. The ECB also announced that its Deputy Chair COLIN GRAVES will become chairman of the board’s commercial committee. Graves, who is also chairman of Yorkshire, founded the supermarket chain Costcutter and oversaw its growth into a franchise network of more than 1,700 stores (ECB). ... Super League rugby side Bradford Bulls has chosen former player JAMES LOWES as its new head coach. Lowes, 44, will leave his role as head coach of Leeds Carnegie rugby union team to succeed FRANCIS CUMMINS, "who was sacked just over a week ago by the relegation-threatened" club (PA, 6/24). ... VINKO BEGOVIC "has been appointed" coach of Iran’s First Division Mes of Kerman football team on Monday. Begovic "joined Mes of Kerman on a one-year contract" (TEHRAN TIMES, 6/23). ... The Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia appointed HUANG YING HOW president. Ying How "will helm the association for the next two years" after incumbent DATUK SYED MUSTAFFA SYED decided to step down after serving for two terms. PETER CHEE of Sarawak and Penang’s LINDA GEH were appointed to vice president positions (THE STAR, 6/22).
